Phyllomedusa bicolor, also known as blue-and-yellow tree frog, giant monkey frog, and giant leaf frog. It is found in the Amazon basin as well as some surrounding areas. Kambo secretion is the worlds strongest and most natural antibiotic and immune booster. Endangered species database lists Kambo frogs in the "least concern" category. They have no predators in the jungle. The frogs I use are not harmed for their secretion. I receive the Kambo I use from the Matses tribe in the Amazon. The tribe gathers the secretion with great respect. The frog is sacred and protected. Kambo has a wide range of traditional and potential therapeutic applications, both medical and psycho-spiritual. It is not a hallucinogenic. Kambo is widely sought out to revitalize the body and mind.
The benefits of Kambo stem from the bioactive peptides and neuropeptides found in the Kambo secretion. The bioactive peptides found in Kambo positively affect humans due to their health-promoting properties. They can exert several beneficial effects like preventing diseases or modulating the physiological systems once they are absorbed in the human body. These peptides perform a broad range of functions that can be involved in the gastrointestinal system, such as the anti-obesity and satiety peptides, the cardiovascular system such as antihypertensive, antithrombotic, and hypocholesterolemic peptides, the immune system such as antimicrobial, and immune-modulatory peptides, and the nervous system such as opioid peptides. Tribes of the Amazon often refer to Kambo as "Hunting Magic" as it strengthens the physical body and the mind. Kambo brings energy and stamina into the body and sharpens the senses. It makes the mind still and allows one to think clearly. The small things that bother us daily do not seem to be as significant following a Kambo session, allowing one to focus on the things that truly matter in life.
Kambo has been used by the native indigenous tribal people of the Amazon rainforest for centuries. They refer to Kambo as "vacina da floresta" (the vaccine of the forest.) Indigenous beliefs say Kambo is used to free people of panema and a powerful modality against malaria, snake bites, yellow fever, and other epidemic diseases. Panema means sadness, lack of luck, irritation, or bad aura. The basic purpose of Kambo is taking off the panema in order to go hunting.
People turn to Kambo for many different uses, from physical to psychological. Although Kambo is not considered a medicine in the western sense of the word, many people have found relief from physical ailments. Kambo has analgesic properties that have the potential to provide pain relief up to 4000 times stronger than morphine without the addictive high that comes from opiates. Many people who suffer from autoimmune diseases such as Lyme have found incredible benefits from Kambo, aiding in relieving their symptoms and putting life back into their bodies. Kambo has shown extraordinary properties in assisting people with depression, grief, anxiety, and PTSD on a psychological level. Kambo peptides, and their effects, are reported to cover a wide range of potential medical uses: treatment of brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, migraines, blood circulation problems, vascular insufficiency, organ diseases, skin and eyes issues, cancer, fertility problems in women, AIDS, candida, hepatitis, herpes, hormonal imbalances and more. Kambo enters the lymphatic system, waking up the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Kambo contains phyllokinin and phyllomedusins which are peptides that help cross the blood-brain barrier, enabling it to reach deep in the body and bring support to otherwise difficult to treat areas.
The only safe application of Kambo is through minor blister points made in the skin to which the secretion is applied. The burn is not deep, with only the epidermis removed, allowing an entry “gate” for the Kambo into the body. Typically 3-5 “gates” are opened in the skin for an introductory Kambo session. The client is asked to drink about 1/2 liter of water before applying the Kambo dots to the open gates. Once the secretion is applied to the gates, the immediate effects are quick and intense but short-lived, usually about 20-25 minutes. Within 30 seconds to a minute, the client will experience a warm flushing sensation over the entire body. The heart rate will increase slightly with a light throbbing sensation in the head. The lips, ears, and tongue may go numb and tingly and may also be accompanied by dizziness or light-headedness, and these sensations last approximately 5-7 minutes, followed by 10-15 minutes of flu-like symptoms where the client may feel weak, achy, and nauseous. During this time, the client may or may not feel the need to purge, although it is not a requirement to receive the benefits of Kambo. It is merely a pharmacological effect of Kambo that some experience and is not as dramatic as you will find on some of these sensationalized youtube videos. Because of the water consumed beforehand, the purge is typically smooth and without discomfort. After the purge, the flu-like symptoms dissipate rather rapidly, and the client is usually left feeling very relaxed and may be washed over with a feeling of euphoria. After approximately 30-45 minutes of rest, the client will gain strength and energy back into the body and will be able to continue their day as usual. The benefits from Kambo will be experienced in the following hours, days, and even sometimes weeks following the session.
